I don't believe in abortion for any reason what so ever. I can't sympathize with any woman who has made this decision over the baby whose life was ended by it. Most of us agree that abortion is wrong as a form of birth control and late in pregnancy. But a lot of people think it's ok as a result of rape or health reasons. Well consider this.. 1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient). So the it's ok in cases of rape/incest and medical reasons argument is pretty much a moot point when 93% of women are using abortion as birth control. I do sympathize with women who have become pregnant as a result of rape. But still I can't play God no matter how horrible a situation is. I believe that rape is hard enough on a woman without compounding it with something as life altering as abortion. No matter what she's still the mother of that baby. It's not fair to make a child conceived through rape pay for his/her father's crime. If a woman decides not to raise a baby that was conceived that way then adoption is an awesome alternative. Sure it may be hard on a child if they find out thy were conceived that way, but I think most would rather they were allowed to live to process that information themselves. The beautiful thing about adoption is that they never really have to know. I think keeping that information from them is a better option than killing them, don't you? Ive also seen that somw people see abortion as being acceptable because some parents may harm their own children after they are born. Well that doesn't make any sense because aborting the child is harming him/her anyway. 1.7 million babies are aborted every year and psychopaths are still murdering/molesting children. And that's just in the United States! The bottom line is that abortion isn't ok in any way shape or form and we've got to speak out against it.
